Enter the meaningless void that cheaply produces thousands of episodes, always the same but always different.
The Mo & Laa show uses AI generative tools known as Text2Image models to reflect on what repercussions such powerful technology can have.
Using the visual archetypes of YouTube Kids videos, known for their harmful algorithmically-driven nature, the show takes what generative machine learning does the best --fast quantitative content production-- and hyper-boosts it for cheap and profitable entertainment.
On the official ML show stand found in selected toy shops, one can generated their own character. Based on your name, the AI generates the character that best defines you. Once the character is minted and uploaded on the Molaaverse, one will be officially part of the show and appear in several episodes as the protagonist or side kick.
Each character is carefully crafted by Stable Diffusion, while the environments by DALLE 2, Midjourney, VQGAN+CLIP and Disco Diffusion, plus one of the earliest text2video model CogVideo for the reactions.
For online viewers, the project is an endless live-stream on YouTube.
For viewers at the physical installation, the ML show is an interactive entertainment system.
A touch display inside of a cardboard stand allows viewers to create their own character. Based on their name, a face gets generated with Stable Diffusion and uploaded on the ML show.

In good ol’ fashion of the promised Web3 future, every character is a token on the Molaaverse, that both certifies who the owner is and that the character is officially part of the cast.
This personalization gimmick goes hand in hand with generative AI, which can uniquely generate content specific to a viewer’s preferences.
As this pairing will get adopted more frequently, entertainment might slowly loose meaning as it will consist in endless fragments different to everyone.
